Most people think of swimming in a pool as a refreshing big old bathtub. We certainly don’t take a pre-shower before taking a bath so why shower before swimming in a pool? It’s no different right? Wrong. Unless you live a 100% organic lifestyle you are like most of us that use shampoo, conditioner, soap, aftershave, deodorant, lotion, oils, styling products, perfume, sun block, and creams. From the time you wake up until the time you will go swimming we sweat, get dirty, go to the bathroom etc. Do you really want all those contaminants floating in the water around you?
I don’t know about you but I swallow water every now and then and when you stop to think about all the things that you could be swallowing well it’s quite disturbing. This is one of the reasons why it is highly recommended that you shower before swimming in a pool or spa. No one really wants to swallow chunks of sunblock or deodorant.
The other reason is simply because all these organic compounds and products can affect the products in the pool that keep the water clear, balanced and hygienic. This is what makes your water safe to swim in and when you weaken it’s security this is when you can get sick.
