While a swimming pool can increase the value of your home, it needs to be properly maintained in order to do so. That being said, we always need to keep a keen eye on our pools, making certain that we regularly clean them and properly balance our pool water to avoid algae build-up; keep all of our pool parts in good working condition to extend the lifespan of our family fun; and, to maintain our gorgeous aesthetics, it is also important to vigilantly upkeep the surfaces within and surrounding our swimming pool.
So, how do you know when it is time to resurface your pool? There are several things you can look for…Staining is one of them. Minerals, like iron and copper – which can appear in abundance in water, can, unfortunately, create unsightly stains on a pool’s surface over the years. Resurfacing your pool can solve that issue.
Gunite exposure can also be problematic for the surface of your swimming pool. Resurfacing your pool can protect its structure by acting as a protective barrier between the water and the shell of your pool. If your pool was built with gunite – which many swimming pools were, and it is now exposed, you definitely need to resurface your pool.
Also, if you notice that the plaster on your swimming pool surface is beginning to crack or peel, that is another sign that it is time to resurface your pool.
