It’s no secret that Florida is a fun place to be. Heck, Florida even has a nickname, aside from “The Sunshine State,” that says it all. Yep, lots of folks refer to our warm, entertaining, beautiful beach-swaddled state as “The Festival Capital of the World” and Flagler Avenue in New Smyrna Beach definitely pulls its weight in that department!
It all started in February with the New Smyrna Beach Voodoo Music Festival, offering free live music at various host venues along Flagler Avenue which could give even our New Orleans party brethren a run for their money.
In the same vein, Flagler Avenue is host to two music events in March – the Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras Parade and Celebration and Shamrock N Roll Music Fest. I warned you that we love music!
It just so happens that most of our food-inspired events also have plenty of live music on the menu, including the Annual New Smyrna Beach Food Fest April 21st April 2nd on Flagler Avenue.
Then, if you like things soulful, the New Smyrna Beach Blues Festival fills the Flagler Avenue air with sweet bluesy sounds May 6th through the 8th.
The NSB Seaside Fiesta and Music Festival is June 16-19 and then, since New Smyrna Beach, would never forget to have a blast in honor of the 4th, there is The Red White and Blue Music Fest July 1-4.
The next season is no slouch either, with the Flagler Avenue Fall Music Festival October 14-17 and the New Smyrna Beach Rock and Roll Music Festival scheduled for November 19 and 20.
Plus, there is always a Flagler Avenue New Year’s Eve celebration with plenty of merriment, festive foods and, yes…live music!
