Whether you live near the beach, have a pool or enjoy boating or other watersports, it is important to develop safe habits and learn lifesaving skills for in and around the water. There are a number of excellent places in the New Smyrna Beach area that offer swimming lessons for a variety of ages and skill levels:
Swim Totts on Dixie Freeway in New Smyrna Beach specializes in survival swim lessons for those from six months to six years old. Swim Totts offers private swimming lessons four days per week for about ten minutes each session. Classes are customized to meet each child’s learning pace and physical ability.
You can also find swimming lessons in Daytona Beach at the Daytona State Aquatic Center. These are Red Cross swimming lessons with seven levels to meet the skill sets of all ages. Plus, Campbell Aquatic Center in Daytona offers appropriate swimming instruction for adults and children based on age and ability.
The YMCA offers swimming lessons in Edgewater, Port Orange, Ormond Beach, Deltona and Deland. This youth aquatics program offers group or private lessons with certified instructors.
Aqua Park Aquatic Center in Edgewater is run by volunteer parents of New Smyrna Beach High School swimmers with the assistance of various local business and community members. Each class, from 4 to 4:30 Tuesdays and Thursdays, is made up of three or four kids. Eight lessons run $80.
Want to learn how to swim in your own pool? No problem. Starfish Swim Lessons by Katie in Port Orange offers lessons starting at $20 per half hour session by a former competitive swimmer with 15 years of instruction experience – at her home or yours.
